Atlanta Re-Sound Design
About This Piece
- Above is an excerpt from S1E10 of Atlanta, containing none of it’s original sound. The video was silent when I began, allowing me to build my own original sound design around it.
- The music track in the piece is an original composition I made for the project, containing samples songs by Childish Gambino (the male actor in the piece).
- I inserted ADR lines, background ambiances, sound effects, and foley; most of which was performed / recorded by myself.
DO the right thing re-sound Design
About This Piece
- Above is an excerpt from Do The Right Thing, containing none of it’s original sound. The video was silent when I began, allowing me to build my own original sound design around it.
- The music track is Summer Madness by Kool & The Gang. I put my music supervision skills to work and concluded that this song was the best representation of late 80s time period of the film, rising tensions on the hottest day of the year, and the iconic “roll call” monologue of famous musicians.
- Rather than Samuel L. Jackson, you’ll hear myself performing the roll call voiceover.
- I inserted ADR lines, background ambiances, sound effects, and foley; most of which was performed / recorded by myself.
THESIS FILM MIXING (WOODSHOP)
As part of the thesis film mixing workshop I attended, Woodshop was directed by Oscar Vazquez and handed off to our student group for sound design. After the dialogue was revived, the film was handed off to me for FX work. I was recording engineer for all the foley, sourced out hard FX, and acted as music supervisor. As an extra step to help get the film completed, I took on the mix as well. Below you’ll find two versions of an excerpt from the film; the first being before our group worked on it, the latter being after.
